Save the Date. The Fat Tire Triathlon is Back Seeley, WI - April 1, 2016
Due to popular demand, the organizers of the Fat Tire Triathlon decided to bring the race back. One of the largest off-road triathlons in the country, the race originally took place at Telemark Pointe, a Telemark Resort property 9 miles east of the now-defunct vacationland destination.
For 2016 the Fat Tire Triathlon will be moved to a new venue at Lake Silverthorn in Seeley, WI, ten miles north of Hayward, WI. Race date is Sunday, August 21st. The event will again...

LIFE TIME TRI - SOUTH BEACH TRIATHLON - A pair of Minnesotans rocked socks in the "International Premier Division," i.e. pro and elite amateur, in Miami's thongiest district yesterday. Burnsvillian Dan Arlandson, 40, placed 6th overall / 4th amateur / 1st master in the men's race. He was also 4th (amateur) here in 2014. Jess Rossing, 30, of Duluth, finished 4th in the women's contest. She placed 7th here in 2015. RESULTS
GWEN AGAIN - In 2012, St. Paul's Gwen Jorgensen placed 38th out of fifty participants at the London Women's Olympic Triathlon. This year she's favored to WIN, or at least podium, at the Rio Games....

In recent posts we had discussed the history and talent of Duluth's multisport scene. Today we are doing likewise with the Mankato area's tri/du scene. Here are some stats:
Three Mankato area triathletes have won Minnesota Multisport awards. They are:
- BEKAH HOLT - 2000 Junior of the Year
- NATE KORTEUM - 2001 Rookie of the Year (FYI, Nate is the spousal unit / manager of Sarah Haskins, America's premier non-drafting female triathlete.)
- GREG TAYLOR (6x) - 2012 Master of the Year, 2004 thru 2007 Divisional Dominance (FYI - Named Grand Master of the Year in 2014 after he had relocated to Yankton, SD. He earned the National GMOY award in 2015 and 2014.)
