After a week of recovery and relaxation from my Kansas 70.3 win in June, my brain’s reward center was begging for more, and my sights turned to Racine 70.3 on July 20th. Not only would six weeks be perfect timing to build for another great race, it would also give Mark and I time to journey down to spectate the world’s best sporting event in Brazil—we were off to the World Cup!
Good connections and now great Brazilian friend, Nivaldo, spoiled us rotten and we had the time of our lives in Salvador, Brazil. Nivaldo is the type of guy with thoughtful intentions, a kind heart, and exceptional follow-through. We were thankful for that! In fact, he knew I was in mid-season so he even arranged for me to borrow a bike—it wasn’t my Cervelo P5 with Hed wheels but it HAD two wheels and the commuter bike...

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Live coverage from the USA Triathlon Age Group National Championships in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, will be available for free at usatriathlon.org this weekend, marking the fourth consecutive year USA Triathlon has offered a live stream of its largest National Championships event.
A registered field of 5,700 of the nation’s top amateur triathletes will compete on Saturday, Aug. 9, in the Olympic-Distance National Championships, and on Sunday, Aug. 10, in the Sprint National Championships. Action from both events will be streamed live on usatriathlon.org beginning at 7:15 a.m. CT. The live stream on Saturday also includes the Milwaukee Super Sprint Series event, where 35 professional and junior elite triathletes compete in an incredibly fast and spectator-friendly event, completing two back-to-back swim-bike-run circuits. RACE REPORT - Chisago Sprint was one of the few repeat races on my calendar this year so I was excited to see how my race would compare to last year. Heading into the race I set my “goal” (expected result range) a little higher than Lauren Goss’s professional course record. When I mapped out the course though, it was more like a 21.4 mile bike verses 22 miles. If this was truly the case I knew if I had a good race I could be within that mark.
Race morning weather was ideal: a little on the cool side, great for drinking some nice hot coffee. Dad (Stopwatch Greg) and I arrived fairly early per usual so I could grab my packet, get body marked and setup in transition the way I like with plenty of time to spare and time for my body to wake up.
The half-iron folks were heading out at 7 but the sprint triathletes hung out until the first half-iron swimmers got to shore. Gear West teammate David Thompson was first out of the water with a small pack not too far behind....

USAT OLYMPIC NATIONALS - An unprecedented number of Minnesotans will be in Milwaukee this weekend and we think that a high percentage of them will earn Team USA berths. Of course, we believe that Heather Lendway (photo) will repeat as overall women's champion and keep her 2014 undefeated streak alive.
We also think that 2nd place will be earned by Wausau, Wisconsin's Dani Fischer, who because she has already raced on Minnesota soil four times this season, is eligible for MMA consideration and a place on Team Minnesota. Do you know Dani? She's a HOOT, and a very, very cool person.
As in 2013, we think that Matt Payne will be the highest placing male Minnesotan. He, in fact, comes into the race as one of the favorites to win the whole darn thing. His co-faves include three Coloradans, Steve Mantell, David Giandini and...
