Chisago Lakes Half Iron Recap:
By Dan Hedgecock (danhedgecock.blogspot.com)
Monday, July 23
The race yesterday at Chisago was very long, and I got lucky again this year with mild temperatures and cloud cover for most of the race. Gloria West is the race director, and through Midwest Sports Events puts on a full line of triathlons and running races throughout the year. As a poor person I think I really appreciate Gloria's race because it doesn't cost me an arm and a leg. I was looking into doing the Boulder 70.3 race around this time, but just couldn't stomach the almost $300 entry fee. This weekend I got to race a full half with all the support I could need...

WASECA 1/3 & SPRINT IV - Diane Hankee was totally awesome on this dank, cool morning in friendly Waseca. So were the brothers Cooley, Sean and Jake. And John Heinlein III. And Enoch Elliot (photo L). HOOT LAKE TRIATHLON- 192 guys and gals crossed the finish line of the umpteenth annual Hoot Lake Triathlon in Fungus Falls this morning. Okay, it's actually "Fergus Falls," but Angie Hop, who won there last year but did Waseca 1/3 instead this season (and rocked!), prefers it's affectionate eukaryotic sobriquet.
The event was won by Ryan Deyounge of Worthington, who may or may not be the drummer for Christian rock band "Mainstay," who supposedly sound a little like the "Goo Goo Dolls," and Missy Heilman (photo L), who likes red cocktails, "Daughtry" (Who doesn't?) and "The Biggest Loser." According to runner-up Cindy Schlafmann, a world....
