Race Previews - There are at least seven new multis on Minnesota's 2012 outdoor calendar, bringing the unofficial total to a record 90 events. Whew! Do you plan to do any of them? We hope so.
In case you haven't already signed-up for any of these races, here they are for your consideration (MTN advertisers are capitalized and we feel they deserve a wee bit of extra love here!):
* May 12 - Central Lakes Duathlon (Fergus Falls) - A unique bike-run-bike event (B - 19.9, R - 3.9 trails, B - 6.9). Cool concept! WEBSITE
* May 19 - BLAINE TRIATHLON - This new event is also bike-heavy, which should appeal to saddle-crazed Minnesotans. (S .3, B - 16.7, R - 3.5). This event deserves extra love because it advertises on MTN. WEBSITE

OHP Indoor Tri #3 Coverage - Jeff Hunsaker is a tri newby who is a totally nice guy with a great sense of humor and wears designer eyeglasses. Last Saturday evening he quaffed several pints of Stone IPA and ate more than half of an extra large BBQ chicken pizza. On Sunday morning the groggy and cotton-mouthed Hunsaker drove to OptumHealth Performance's training center in Eden Prairie, where he participated in his first indoor triathlon, a feat he finished, though not without a preponderance of backstroking. After the event he drove home and, too ravenous to wait for his oven to heat up, nuked the remainder of yesterday's pizza, which he consumed while listening to "Infinite" by Eminem.
Jeff plans to make his outdoor swim-bike-run debut at the inaugural Blaine Triathlon on May 19....

Rosemarie runs a marathon every week. True story. She flies all over the U.S. in search of a marathon to participate in. It is her way of getting the word out that she overcame obesity, in hopes of inspiring others who also suffer, to do the same. This past weekend she ran two marathons in Long Beach, California. The only marathon distance Rick does every weekend is on a bike, and that is only if he has to.
Reading about Rosemarie got Rick thinking. As of late, he has been drooling over races coming up this season and talking with friends about which races they are doing. Just about every time he hears someone talk about a race, he wants to sign up. At that rate, he will be lapping Rosemarie and can forget about training because he will be racing every day of the season. Somehow Rick needs to step back, take a deep breath, and strategically select his races if he wants...
