OptumHealth Performance Indoor Tri #1 - A research study at a semi-prestigious community college in Nickeragwah (phonetic spelling), wherein nine people were interviewed, proved conclusively that ONLY COOL PEOPLE BECOME TRIATHLETES.
Truer gibberish was never spoken, and the findings of that groundbreaking study were echoed loudly on Sunday at the inaugural Optumhealth Performance Indoor Tri, which launched the 2012 OHP Indoor Series. Only cool people were there.
Like who, you ask?
* Well, let's start with Trisha, 15, from Prior Lake, who is as cute as a button. She rides a Cervelo, which means that her parents are doing okay financially. Lately, she's been bugging her mom, who is very, very...

In our quest to write about Minnesota triathletes who have yet to receive any of our cyber ink, we recently came across a couple of talented folks that we'd like to tell you about. The first is a 22-year-old guy named Joe Dalton. We hope that the guy in the photo (L) is our guy. There are lot of Joe Daltons on Facebook and we selected a dude who looked young and triathlete-like, and who also has cool floppy 60s-style hair and lives in Minneapolis.
We are totally impressed with this guy's academic credentials. He undergradded at a cool little university in Michigan called Ferris State, which was NOT named for the Matthew Broderick character, Ferris Bueller. He recently finished a masters program at the U, where he studied complex molecular biological stuff, like genomes, and nucleotides and stem cells....

ED. On Monday, Chrissie Wellington announced that she was not going to do any ironman racing in 2012. Bummer! MTN rarely posts features on pro athletes, other than on Minnesota's own DKT and Devon Palmer, that is. We couldn't pass up this story, though, because we love Chrissie to pieces AND she is Lois Nilsen's BFF (photo R) and has hung out with Sean Cooley (photo L).

On Monday, Jan. 16 Chrissie Wellington sent shockwaves throughout the triathlon world with the announcement that she would be taking a year away from Ironman racing. The four-time Ironman world champion posted the news on her blog, Chrissiewellington.org, and expressed a desire to pursue other opportunities. Wellington took time to chat with us about those opportunities, how she came to the decision and what the future will hold.
