Wishing She Was Here...

Not long ago we posted about a couple of homegrown athletes--Chris Leiferman and Matt Hanson--who emerged as first-tier pros after they moved out-of-state. They had yet to establish themselves as elite performers before their relocation....

Today we are writing about an athlete who had a great impact on the Minnesota scene before moving to Wisconsin (Madison) in 2005, where she immediately became one of that state's premier triathletes.

We're talking about CINDI BANNINK, who is a total HOOT and we wish that she would move back to Minnesota.

Bannink's Minnesota credentials include winning the Most Improved award in 2004 and finishing 2nd in the polling for Rookie of the Year in 2002. She cracked the Top 5 on Team MInnesota in both 2004 and 2005.

After her move to Wisconsin, she started a successful coaching business. In 2011 she was named USAT Coach of the Year. That year she was developing an emerging star named Gwen Jorgensen. Yopu may have heard of her.

In 2010 Cindi placed 2nd overall at Nationals and was named USAT AOY HM.

Bannink loves calories, dogs, little horses (photo R) and old bikes with fenders that require two hands and a grunt to lift (top photo).
