Protect your investment
By Devon Palmer

In my work as a coach I have many conversations with people who are considering coaching. One of the hangups, understandably, is money. Coaches do not work for free. One of my arguments for the value of coaching is simple: protecting your investment.
If you are jumping into the deep end of triathlon, how much are you going to invest? Think through the time, money, and energy it takes to prepare for a competitive season or for an Ironman. To give yourself the opportunity to race at your best it will be a significant investment of all three: time, money and energy....

Clermont Draft Legal Challenge - MTN congratulates Dan Hedgecock on his victory last Saturday at the prestigious Clermont Draft Legal Sprint Challenge. Two-time Minnesta Triathlete of the Year, Hedge was the runner-up for USAT AOY in 2012 and won the Elite Duathlete of the Year title. Since 2011 he has amassed 19 multisport wins. Dan's sweetheart, Claire Bootsma, also raced in Florida, finishing 10th against an impressive group of rising amateur stars, like winner Kyla Chapman of Indianapolis, who runs like a banshee, as does 2nd-placer Jessica Barton who was a track and cross-country star at Wake Forest and is currently setting records for Northeastern U. in...

It's been a while...
By Kortney Haag (kortneyhaag.blogspot.com)
Sorry it's been a while since my last post...September to be exact! It is almost spring...yipee...Keaton and I actually went to the park today for about 45 mins and had his snack there until our hands got cold and we made our way back home. It seems like winter will be around for a while with all of the snow we have in Minnesota. For a whole week I had to run on the treadmill and I thought I was going to go crazy. I went for a 9 mile run on Sunday and it was so nice to be outside even if I was jumping over puddles and ice. We have been pretty healthy here in the Haag household except for Keaton (photo) getting the nasty flu bug and was sick for about 5 days - poor guy probably lost about 5 lbs.
Owen has gotten his fill out of it this winter!! This was my first year experiencing hockey in our household. Owen was a Mite 1 and his team were the Wildcats. I got asked to be the team manager and I had no idea what I was supposed to do or if I was doing it right but I took the bull by the horns and only three more weeks of hockey left...yipee, now on to soccer and baseball! ....

More Than A Race
Dear Family & Friends,
Many of you know that over the last few years I have embraced the triathlon lifestyle. It has proven to be a great way to stay in shape, and I enjoy the discipline of training and preparation for racing.
In September I volunteered at the Ironman Wisconsin race. My experiences during the three-day event inspired me to sign up for the 2013 Ironman that includes a 2.4-mile swim, a 112-mile bike course, and marathon run of 26.2 miles....
