SPRINT NATIONALS - Here are the Minnesotans that cracked the Top 100 at last Sunday's Sprint Nationals. We had hoped to provide Team USA info, but the results we consulted didn't include complete AG lists, just Olympic/Sprint combo standings.

47. KRISTINA SWENSON (Rogers) - 1:14:04

66. ISABELLA BUENTING, 14 (Chanhassen) - 1:15:36 (photo)

GREEN LAKE TRIATHLON - Sometimes great races are contested on yucky days. Was it really a yucky day on Sunday at Green Lake? Not totally, but kinda. The air was chilly and grey. And rain fell off and on, mostly on. Sometimes it rained like a banshee.

In the Olympic race, JORDAN ROBY and SHEENA DAUER did what they did in 2016, and what Sheena had also done in 2015, as well. They won convincingly. Their times were somewhat slower than expected, of course, but it was not only because of the weather. The run course was longer this year: 6.77, instead of 6.0.

Jordan has won two triathlons this season, and podiumed in six of the eight races he's done thus far in 2017. Dauer also has two wins this season....

The men's Olympic Top three was filled out by likely Rookie of the Year nominee JAKE BRAAM, and 2017 Turtleman winner SCOTT MYERS. For the women, a gimpy ANDREA MYERS managed to place 2nd, and AMY WOOLSEY, who is having her best season ever, took 3rd.

The GL Sprint was won by Paynesville's SPENCER SYVERTSON, who is a member of MSU's tri team and is a lot faster now than he was in 2016. His winning 1:02 was six minutes faster than his time in 2016, when he placed  6th. We love to witness stuff lake that. Besides, Spencer is an awesome guy.

Returning to action after a protracted layoff, ROB MADGWICK, May's Master of the Month, placed 2nd, and former MTN partner / all-around great guy DARIN WIENEKE, took the final podium spot.

The women's winner was MANDY STOESZ, who "chicked" a couple a guys by outsprinting them. She was flying! So fun to watch.

Mandy's margin of victory over 13-year-old phenom MACY IYER was slim, only seventeen seconds.

Fargo's AMY BERGAN claimed 3rd.

The spur-of-the-moment Duathlon for the 51 members of Wave #7 (Women 35+) was won by Lake Minnewaska winner ROXANNE LORENZ, who overtook JEN NEUMAN, Sprint winner here in 2016 and 2015, on the run. Menomonie, Wisconsin's ANNA GUNDERSON finished in 3rd place.

A total of 220 soggy athletes finished this year's races, after which they ate pizza and drank beer.  RESULTS
