Life Time Fitness Indoor Triathlons - Life Time's five winter indoor races happened last Sunday. Anxiously, we scoured the results to learn if the events are growing. The first race we looked at was St. Louis Park, which had 82 finishers, a slight increase from 2018....
Looking closer, we also discovered that the SLP race attracts a significant amount of summer triathletes. Life Time has always excelled in marketing their summer races --Minneapolis, Trinona and Maple Grove--to club members.
Here is an overview of LTF's indoor Tris and how they are scored:
The Indoor Triathlon is based on time rather than distance - meaning you receive points for going further in a specific period of time, not going faster over a fixed distance. Participants are graded on a curve. The furthest distance in each category gets the most points (actual number is based on total participants), the shortest receives 1 point, and your “score” for the discipline is based on the points you achieve. All three disciplines count equally toward your final score. Therefore, your rank and score will not be determined until all participants have completed the event. The total event will be 75 minutes: 10 minutes in the pool, a 10-minute transition, 30 minutes on a spin bike, a 5-minute transition and 20 minutes on a treadmill. Transition times are fixed between events and do not count toward participants’ scores. The transition times are planned to allow safe progression to the next discipline. Headphones are allowed during this event.
Leading the way at SLP was REGIS DUPORT (top photo) and VICTORIA PHILLIPPI (photo R). Duport is a French guy who has a history of indoor tri success and his outdoor results, though we haven't seen much of him since 2016, aint bad either. Phillippi is an avid and successful runner, who according to FB photos, has extremely long hair and is a Vikings fan. She has a toddler who is totally cute.
Here are SLP's Top 5s:
1. VICTORIA PHILLIPPI - 186 points, 2. KATHRYN JENSEN - 179 points , 3. ADREA MAUSETH - 170 points, 4. ALEXA LODISE - 155 points, 5. ALLISON HALL - 143 points,
