CLEARWATER — It's safe to say Brian Storhaug really likes the Graniteman Clearwater Triathlon.
He REALLY LIKES it.
"I do," he said.
Storhaug won the men's sprint division for the third straight year Saturday at Lake Warner County Park.
He completed the .44-mile swim, 14.33-mile bike and 3.1-mile road race with a time of one hour, eight minutes and 22 seconds....
Storhaug, 28, is from Alexandria. He's competing in the Graniteman three-race series this summer, which included the Buffalo Triathlon on June 2, Saturday's Clearwater event and the Granite Man Big Lake on Aug. 3.
And while Saturday's time was a personal best, it's never a sure bet, and it's never easy. Ask Storhaug. He thought he won in Buffalo, but was passed up by 44-year-old Mike Buenting, who started in a different heat.
"I'm trying my best, but there's never a guarantee," said Storhaug, a top high school swimmer who swam for his father, long-time Alexandria coach Mark Storhaug. "The fun thing is you never know where you're at for the race, so you're racing against yourself." READ MORE
