ASIAGO, Italy — Amateur athlete Sheri Schrock raced her way to a top result for Team USA on Sunday with a bronze medal in her age group at the 2020 ITU Winter Triathlon World Championships. Schrock was joined by eight other athletes who represented Team USA, four of them also earning top-10 finishes....
For the second straight year, Winter Triathlon Worlds was held at the Centro di Fondo Campolongo, a Nordic skiing venue in the heart of the Venetian mountains, featuring the unique multisport discipline that combines running, mountain biking and cross-country skiing. The age-group course featured a 3.63-kilometer run and 6.08-kilometer bike on snow-packed trails, followed by a 4.87-kilometer ski.
Schrock (Cohasset, Minn.) finished on the Winter Triathlon Worlds podium for the third consecutive year, earning the women’s 65-69 bronze medal in 1 hour, 18 minutes, 12 seconds. She previously earned a silver medal in 2019 and a gold medal in 2018. Schrock finished three minutes behind world champion Luisella Iabichella of Italy, who topped the podium in 1:15:11, and was less than a minute back from silver medalist Marianne Grünebach of Germany, who finished in 1:17:20.
