* Alex Hooke and Cathy Lee were the fastest Minnesotans at the Wellington-free Hawaiian Ironman Worlds Championships--our sport's imundisputed Super Bowl!-- last Saturday. Hooke, 27, from Rochester, lowered his IM-PB by more than 25 minutes with his impressive 9:30:08 (S-57:33-B-5:07:29-R-3:17:53). Lee, 36, from Minneapolis, turned in a sweet 10:28:27 (S-1:08:08- B-5:35:30 - R - 3:38:02).

As he's done so often in the past, Greg Taylor, 56, of Mankato, podiumed at Kona, finishing 3rd in his division in a super-solid 10:15:55. We also extend an electronic-back-pat to Scandia's Andrew Turner, 23, who lowered his PB from 10:19 (Wisconsin '10) to 9:52:49.

Other Minnesota Finishers (in alpha order): Dan Arlandson (10:33:23), Doug Davis (10:58:42), Rich Heilman (9:55:59!), jMatt Keil (10:37:08), Jen Lenarz (11:54:52), Pam Nielsen (11:15:41), Karl Schultz (10:17:38). Lets s know if we missed anyone? We'll happily update this post.

* Photo L - Joe Moyer parlaying his monster bike split into an overall victory at the well-attended (800ish) Green Bay Duathlon last Saturday. His lovely wife Ann finished 4th in the women's contest and 18-year-old multi-rookie Brock Eastlund, whose proud papa provided the Moyer photo, knocked down a 7th. Brock's limited resume has been impressive. He will receive consideration for both a Junior of the Year and Rookie of the Year nomination.

* MTN has just learned that 17, Krista Humbert and Kyle Peterson, 21 won the 4th annual Royals River Sprint Triathlon in Watertown-Mayer last Saturday. The MMA Selection Committee have been aware of Krista's racing progress over the last two season and suspect that a Junior of the Year nomination may be in her future. An even shorter "mini" tri was also staged. That race was won by Chris Boerner, 47, and Dan Dean, 50. Approximately 60 athletes finished the events.
