SPICER — Andrew Manning made his mark on the Green Lake Triathlon on Sunday.

Manning — a 34 year old from Fargo, North Dakota — set a new course record in the Olympic race with a time of 1 hour, 35 minutes, 31 seconds. That beats the previous course record of 1:41:53 set by Marcus Stromberg in 2012....

Manning had the top splits in all three legs of the race: the quarter-mile swim (10:39); the 22-mile bike (50:07) and the six-mile run (32:58).

Willmar’s Mick Quinn finished second in the men’s Olympic race (1:52:17), followed by Minneapolis’ Michael Wente (1:52:42).

Rochester’s Merilea Osterlund finished first in the women’s Olympic race at 2:08:57. She was followed by Sauk Rapids’ Tonya Pick (2:10:34) and West Fargo, North Dakota’s Bryn Irey (2:11:46).

Kevin Mitchell — of Sioux Falls, South Dakota — won the men’s sprint race at 59:55. The sprint includes a quarter-mile swim, a 14-mile bike ride and a three-mile run. Steve Mills of Melbourne Beach, Florida was second (1:03:58), followed by Belgrade’s Tyson Molitor (1:04:35).

Sisters Morgan and Macy Bell finished 1-2 in the women’s sprint race. Both from Maple Grove, Morgan finished at 1:10:30, followed by Macy at 1:11:07. Teresa Van Hyfte, of Hartford, South Dakota, was third at 1:13:17.
