Ironman 140.6 Woodlands, TX - Race Report - Ironman is a BEAST but so good for the soul. The purpose of this event was to heal and make a better tomorrow for myself, this happened. Thankful and Grateful for the gift of sport.
Quick share - This build was full of real life challenges and goodness. My Physical growth and fitness is fleeting; on the flip, my Spiritual, Mental, and Emotional growth has No Limits, let's focus a lil more on these 3.
Swim - No excuses ever, I started swimming 14 days prior to event as them ribs were just not ready. Calf cramp 5 minutes in and 300 yards to swim exit had me laughing, water was easy for a legit swimmer but I found it violent as I smiled more. Felt controlled here and came out a lil foggy in 1:20:04 which for me is not to shabby. Calf cramp never showed it's face again....
Bike - High of 88 degrees, 20+ mph headwinds and gusts over 40+ mph. I raced dis bugger the first 80 miles then had to go to survival mode. Full send in aero position getting tossed around much had me laughing and was risky behavior. Carnage everywhere, crashes, people throwing up, many sitting down next to their bikes looking passed out or sleeping. The Hardy Toll took it's toll but many ripped this bike, much respect here. Time of 5:18:56 - meh.
Run - Legs played hide and seek and never found em, started running 29 days prior to event, NO EXCUSES. 1st mistake was not trusting a fart at mile 8, I popped a squat at a satellite which was not needed. Shortly after this I adapted the run/walk strategy which allowed me to connect with my Mother and share my day, this put me in the right place upstairs and in my heart. Time of 4:50:08 = a PR on this side.
A great start as huge early season fitness has been achieved. Finishing time has me smiling, 11:41:58.
Health and Happiness people. Let's get it.
