Thanks largely to a monster bike split, the men's race was won for the for the 2nd consecutive year by new daddy, Steve Sander (photo L - Lake Waconia '09) of Richfield. He had 52 seconds to catch his breath before 2008 LMT winner, Tony Schiller, 53, of Eden Prairie, made his 2nd place performance official. Gosh, Schiller is amazing! He's gotta be the best 50+ male triathlete in our solar system.
Tony had to run down four-time champ Brett Lovaas to claim his spot. Lovaas held on for the final podium place. Fourth and five went to pony tailed Tom Camp, 45, and the very muscular Carl Unger.
The day was mild and gray. The rain waited until the efficiently-produced event was over and all participants were in their cars, driving home and reflecting on the totally cool event that they just completed.
