Waconia's Girls...

brookAs with the men, Lake Waconia's women's elite field is the deepest of the year thus far, despite the absence of Cathy Yndestad and Julie Hull, who will be doing other stuff this weekend.

Last year's podium finishers--Brook Mutzenberger (photo), Jan Guenther and Susan Williams--are back. Duplicating their 2009 placings will be difficult, however, thanks to the formidable presence of past LWT champ Marlo McGaver,...

the red-hot Sarah Mercer, 2006 and 2009 Rookies of the Year Marta Lewinski and Suzie Finger. And lets toss talented neophyte Jenny Shaughnessy into the mix. Remember her name. And yes, we think she's got what it takes to steal a BOUS slot. The former All American swimmer will be out of the water well ahead of the field. If she can hold off the aforementioned girls, all of whom are superior cyclists, until, say the 15 mile mark on the bike, she'll have a shot at the podium, as her running skills match-up well with the top entrants.

This will be an epic race. If you're not committed elsewhere on Sunday, come out and watch. It's gonna be uber exciting.
