BOB POWERS NEWS - We received this email today from Kevin O'Coonor about our favorite nine-o-genarian triathlete: ...

I talked with Pam, Bob’s daughter, a few hours ago.  Bob is OK, for the most part.

On Thursday was riding out to Withrow and while trying to downshift his chain slipped and he fell over.  He was unable to unclip in time and landed on his hip.  He was unable to move but was picked up by a passerby in his pick up.  This man transported Bob to the hospital.  Bob broke is femur at the neck of the bone.  The surgeon used two screws to put the bone back together.  It was a clean break and the procedure went as well as could be hoped.  His bone health is excellent which bodes well for his recovery.

The pain is being easily managed but he will be in the hospital for a few more days.  His daughter did say that she would not like to see any flowers or donations sent.  Perhaps you would post this on your website so that people could leave any comments they would like to share with Bob.

Obviously we are all hoping for the best for him and according to his daughter he is in great spirits and this is nothing more than a hiccup in his incredible life.

Talk to you two soon,
