Thought you might be interested in this since there aren't many races to cover this time of year:
Gaby Bunten finished 2nd overall today at the HITS Triathlon Series Olympic distance race, held in Naples, Florida. Gaby went down to Naples with a group of fellow Tri-Clones from Iowa State University to compete at the HITS Triathlon in Naples. One of her fellow teammates, Kris Spoth finished 4th overall in the Half Iron Man distance....

A guy asked us recently who we thought would win the currently non-existent award for "US Amateur Performance of the Year" (for 2012). After thinking about it for almost a minute, we replied: "Kendra Lee's overall women's win at Ironman Canada" and Dan Hedgecock's course record at Hy-Vee 5150 Elite Championship....

Beginner athletes often struggle with under-fueling their workouts, particularly when taking on a new endurance endeavor like a triathlon or a half marathon. A common misconception of beginner athletes is that they have to be "competitive" or "elite" to need to replenish their body like experienced athletes.
Also, beginners often have weight loss goals, leading them to reduce calories before, during or after workouts, which does not promote weight loss or enjoyment in exercise. As a result of not getting enough of the right nutrients at the right time, beginners fatigue early during exercise, both mentally and physically.
