SARAH HASKINS WINS 4TH...

Life Time Fitness Tri - Minneapolis - Sarah Haskins felt Hunter Kemper nipping at her heels.

Mere seconds separated the two competitors on the final stretch of the Life Time Fitness Triathlon. The 2012 men's and women's crowns already had been decided. No one was catching either of the two. All that remained was the overall title.

Clinging to her slim lead, Haskins gasped forward. Kemper slowly fell farther and farther behind....

Minnesota's Super Weekend! Day Two...Updated...

HOLT XXVII - Patrick Parish followed up his 3rd place finish at Life Time Fitness Tri - Minneapolis on Saturday with a victory at the 27th Heart of the Lakes / Minnesota State Triathlon Championships this morning. It was PP's 7th win of the 2012 season and his 2nd W at HOLT. Suzie Fox was also crowned overall State Champion, her decisive victory was her 3rd of the year and 7th of her impressive young career.

Minnesota's Super Weekend! Day One...UPDATED...

logo11th LIFE TIME TRI - MINNEAPOLIS - Superstar Sarah Haskins won the equalizer, but only by 9 seconds over four-time Olympian, Hunter Kemper. Both athletes set new course records. For Sarah, it was her 4th consecutive win here. For Hunter, it was his 2nd LTF-Mpls victory. He also won in 2006.

Dan Hedgecock won the men's Elite Amateur race again, lowering his 2011 CR by 19 seconds. He was joined on the Top Step by Cathy Yndestad. This was her 6th (!) LTF-Mpls win.

Other winners included Brasil's Fernando Toldi and Sarah Castillo of Madison, Wisconsin (International Citizens), and Ohio's Jahan Culbreath and Minneapolis' Jennifer Fitzharris- Funk in the Sprint. (Ang Hop was 2nd.)...

Nate Almost Got "Spoused"....UPDATED...

coupleRace Coverage - The 29th edition of the Elysian Triathlon was contested beneath a sullen sky, one which, like a pouting child, alternated between periods of silent seething and tantrumical outbursts.

Okay. That was a rather overwritten way of saying that sometimes it rained; sometimes it didn't.

And no, "tantrumical" is not a real word. "Tantrum" does not have an official adjectival form.

Not only was there off-and-on showers in Elysian last Saturday, it was windy and disturbingly chilly. The temp in that bucolic community reached 99 on Friday. It never got above 65 dank degrees during the race. The climatological discrepancy felt a little creepy, sort of apocalyptic-ish....
