sean-shicago.gifCHISAGO LAKES SPRINT - Dan Hedgecock and Heather Lendway rocked course records this morning. HL finished 2nd overall in 1:17:15, which broke pro Lauren Goss' 2012 CR by 1:45 and the amateur course best by 6:23. RESULTS

CHISAGO LAKES HALF IM - DKT won for the 6th time (in six starts) and Tim Hola of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, lowered Jon Balabuck's 2006 amateur course record.

Iowa pro Tami Ritchie won the women's half in 4:33:39. The overall women's amateur title went to Kortney Haag, who set a PR with her 4:34:23. Lots of personal bests, like Sean Cooley's 4:09:04 - 4th place overall (photo L), and divistional records were set on this coolish, windy day. Photos and more words on Tuesday. RESULTS

WASECA 1/3 - Cathy Yndestad became the first woman to break the 3-hour mark (2:56:16 - 4th overall!) at this unique event. Travis Miller  won for the dudes (2:51:38). RESULTS

Walker & Chaska Stuff... More Updates...

CPT-swim-exit.gifCHASE THE POLICE TRIATHLON - Tomorrow this race will celebrate its 5th birthday. Approximately 375 participants will be in Walker for the .25 - 17 - 2.4 celebration.

We think that history will be rewritten, first of all by Brian Sames, who we think will lower Taggart's Downare's 2010 course record time of 1:05:10. Despite having raced at Racine 70.3 last weekend, we predict that Brian, last year's Most Improved Award winner, will post a time in the 1:04-flat range.

We also predict that Buffalo Sprint winner Cheryl Zitur will defend her women's title and lower her gender's masters record.

We believe that at least two AG marks will fall. We predict that Raquel Wohlik, 17, will take a a nice bite out of the Junior CR. The divisional mark that we think will fall the...

Stuff About Buzz Ryan, Duluth Tri & Paul Bunyan...

rhett-swim.gif3rd Annual BUZZ RYAN SPRINT - Rhett Bonner (photo L) and Elaine Nelson have won two of the first three editions of this short course event on the scenic shores of Island Lake north of Duluth. Last Sunday both Bonner and Nelson took significant bites from their respective gender's course records. For Nelson, it was her 9th win in twelve starts. She shared the podium with 2013 BRS winner Jess Rossing, who went more than two minutes faster than last year, and Jena Ogston, who was coming off a runner-up effort at Timberman Sprint.

Bonner shared the men's podium with Bill Kelley and Lee Brown. Ninety-four athletes crossed the finish line. RESULTS

3rd Annual DULUTH TRI - This half IM was won on Sunday by Paul Rockwood (4:29:55) of Superior, and veteran trail runner Erika Lohn (5:39:56). We don't know much about Erika but we think she may have attended Clemson University....

HOLT XXIX...

HOLT-girls.gifPhoto - L - R - Women's podium: Christina Roberts (3rd), Suzie Fox (1st), Nicole Heininger (2nd).

HEART OF THE LAKES XXIX - Dan Hedgecock and Matthew Payne went 1-2 at Duathlon Nationals on Saturday in St. Paul, and despite the requisite fatigue and sore muscles, they finished first/second again on Sunday at the Heart of the Lakes / Minnesota State Triathlon Championships.

Interestingly, both men are considered champions, Dan, a pro, for finishing 1st, and Matt, for winning the amateur title.

Hedge an M-Payne overtook eventual bronze medalist Marcus Stromberg during the bike portion, but Marcus did let them out of his sight. In the end, only thirty-six seconds separated him from Payne. In five starts this season, Stromberg has never missed the podium. More impressively, four of those events--Best of the US, Life Time - Minneapolis, HOLT and Buffalo Olympic--had national-level men's fields. Marcus has truly proven that he can bark with the big dogs, and we're anxious to see how he fares at Nationals next month....
