Chattanooga 70.3 Race Report - A beautiful day in Chattanooga! I absolutely love this place.
Unfortunately, I didn't earn an opera singer escort today. I was out of the water in 21st place, and biked/ran my way to 8th place in a field dominated by fast runners. Let me tell you, it is HARD to run down runners. I tried with all of my might!
Swim: Non-wetsuit for pros and minimal current in the river swim (closed dam). The swim course also went upstream for the first 350m which all together, yielded typical swim times by all athletes.
Transition: Was exiting T1 with my bike when I realized I still had my swim skin around my hips. Had to run the bike back and chuck it near my spot. I've always been baffled by how that could possibly happen to athletes (until today). (Forgot to tell you that AC :)).  ...

Weekend Race Capsules...

suzie-shadows.gifGEAR WEST DUATHLON - Perfect weather--68 degrees, negligible wind-- greeted the 230ish participants this morning. 2015 Minnesota Triathletes and Duathletes of the Year Matt Payne and Suzie Fox (photo) repeated as champions and five AG records were lowered. Between them, Matt and Suzie have amassed 76 multisport wins. Race coverage and photography on Tuesday. - RESULTS

5th Annual ESPRIT DE SHE DUATHLON - Fast masters claimed the Top 4 spots at this year's run-bike-run: 1. Jennifer Fitzharris-Funk, 41 - 1:04:20, 2. Jody Quesnell, 49 - 1:05:24, 3. Anne Grabowski, 49 - 1:06:48, 4. Tracy Serreyn, 52 - 1:07:09, 5.Kelly Heltemes, 38 - 1:09:23. The event boasted 581 finishers. RESULTS ....

This is a dream job for me, to share my passion for triathlon & my experience with kids! All ability levels are welcome are encouraged! Every practice will be held at Minnetonka Middle School East as we will be swimming in their $6.1 million Aquatics Center. Check it out: LINK (link to pool)

 
They will also have easy access to the school track & regional dirt trail for run workouts as well as the surrounding neighborhoods for biking & running. Kids do not have to be a Minnetonka resident or student to participate....

"No Miracle Bounce-Backs"...

I cancelled Kona.  There, I finally acknowledged that this time my recovery from injury is going to follow a normal slow process. No miracle bounce backs.  No finishing the Arizona Ironman 2 weeks following cracking some ribs and lacerating a hand in a fall in the desert.  No finishing Kona second in my age group 9 months following Achilles tendon repair.  No, this time its different. Finally, 12 weeks following "the accident", 4 weeks following rotator cuff shoulder reconstruction and only 5 months to Kona, I had to admit to the practical.  My healing prowess was average at best and not sufficient to make Kona an option.  I had held out hopes, holding on to the thought of at least participating in Kona, until it was no longer possible to ignore the obvious....
