MTN congratulates Chaska's SUZIE FOX, who kicked off her 2014 tri season with a great performance last Sunday at Ironman Los Cabos on the tip of Mexico's Baja Peninsula. Her time was 10:40:35, which placed her 6th overall among amateur women and 2nd in her 30-34 AG. The clocking is only two minutes off her personal best (10:38:38), set at Ironman Wisconsin in 2012. In Madison, Suzie enjoyed late season fitness and didn't have to contend with heat, yucky roads and suspicious food and water, stuff that is just part of the deal when one races in Mexico.
We've asked Suzie, who has been one of Minnesota's most successful and decorated multisporters since 2009, to file a race report. Her words will appear on MTN tomorrow.
Here is her IM Los Cab / IMOO split-comparision below: ...

The outdoor season is almost upon us. This is the time of year that the MTN Guys like to predict stuff, like who is going to totally rock. Here are a few athletes that we think will kick serious butt in 2014:
OLIVIA BAGNALL (photo) - We truly believe that this girl is special. Runner-up for Rookie of the Year in 2013, she won two races in course record time. Ranked 11th last year, we expect her to make Team MN this time around.
DENNIS DANE - Dennis is what we call a "lapsed" star. After four years --2006 to 2009--of impressive performances, Dane dropped out of sight. It had something to do with having babies and starting his own business. He returned to racing in 2012 and his results were good, albeit not quite the stuff that leads to placement on Team Minnesota. Last year, though, he...

Exiting the open water is an often overlooked part of the transition from swim to bike. Many seconds can be gained and lost, so technique and planning are important. Sara McLarty thinks about the swim exit in 6 steps:
Step 1: Swim toward the finish. Know the course and find tall buildings or trees to sight that are in line with the swim exit.
Step 2: Activate your legs. Kick a little extra during the last 200 meters of the swim....
