Long-distance breakout star Ruth Brennan Morrey certainly took a circuitous route to where she is today. First, she was a NCAA Division I soccer star. Then a semi-pro soccer player. Then an Olympic Trials qualifying marathoner. Then a PHD in psychology, a mom of three and finally a professional triathlete. Here, the 38-year-old Rochester, Minn.-native fills us in on her less-than-typical journey to the top of the sport.
Triathlete.com: Tell us about your athletic background. Did you swim or run as a kid?

Producers of more indoor triathlons than any other institution in the US, Life Time Fitness has staged three of the thirteen such events that will take place in Minnesota LTF clubs this year. Their Plymouth club's race was on February 23. Their Fridley and Lakeville clubs conducted indoor swim-trainer-treadmill events on March 2.

While her sister Heather was busy winning Nationals and finishing a close second in the race for the USAT AOY award last year, Lisa Lendway was rocking her best tri season ever. The former Minnesota Rookie of th Year nominee (2005) won two races and podiumed in four others, results that earned her second MMA nomination, this time for Most Improved.
If you don't already know Lisa, we're happy to report that she's an awesome person. She's got several kids and likes Macklemore, J.R. Tolkein, the food at Cheeky Monkey and the Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon....
