The 14th annual Minnesota Multisport Awards Party, a.k.a. Tri Night '12, will take place on November 10. Last week, MTN asked Kevin at Gear West Bike & Triathlon if he would once again host the party at his shop. We're happy to announce that he graciously agreed to do so.
As in 2011, the party will include fantastic food (thanks Tammy!), copious quantities of malty and grapey adult beverages, cool tunes and, most of all, great company and conversation. It's a chance to chill and hang out with your peers....

Minnesota Multisport Awards - With so many evenly matched 40-plussers, this was the most contentious category. Coming up a tad short from a race volume standpoint were Jan Guenther, Joyce Bourassa and Tina Hjeltman. The resumes of Veronica Bond, Jamie Heying, Leslie Englert, Laura Swartz, Christine Mitchell and Sue Rubens also received heavy scrutiny.
Here are the official nominees:
HEIDI KELLER-MILER, 47, Chaska
HKM won the MOY in 2011 and 2007. Her 2012 resume featured a big win at Lake Waconia, and clear masters victories at Trinona Olympic (4th overall behind Ruth, Claire and Wisconsin's Kim Goodell) and Life Time Tri - Minneapolis Elite (5th overall behind CY, Ruth, Claire and Kort). ...

Minnesota Multisport Awards -Three of the four of this year's official male MOY nominees have won this award before. The other guy--David Holden--was also nominated in 2011. The finalists had to beat out the stalwarts likes of fellow elite 40-plussers Tony Schiller, Rhett Bonner, Rod Raymond, Chap Achen and John Shelp.
BRIAN BICH, 46, Duluth
A four-time MOY winner, Brian won the three regional races he entered in 2012. He also won the 45-49 AG at Nationals, where he would have placed 3rd in the 40-44M category.
DAVID HOLDEN, 43, North Hudson, WI
Winner of four races, David was never beaten by a fellow master this year, nor did he ever finish any lower that 5th overall (Life Time Tri - Minneapolis Elite)....

Minnesota Multisport Awards - The official men's Most Improved nominees were posted last Friday. Here now are that category's nominated women:
RUTH BRENNAN MORREY, 37, Rochester - 2011 Team MN Rank: 5th
Improving on a 5th place ranking is tough, but RBM will certainly do that. In 2012, Ruther emerged as, arguably, America's best amateur 70.3 racer AND our nation's #1 female duathlete, pro or amateur.
SUZIE FOX, 28, Chaska - 2011 Team MN Rank: 9th
Suzie was brilliant in 2012, racking up six of her 11 career multisport victories. She also conquered long distances, heretofore a buggaboo, by convincingly winning Pigman and placing 6th in her Ironman debut (10:38:09) at IMOO....
