Race Preview - Marlo McGaver's course record at the Sartell Apple Duathlon has stood since 2007. Her stalwart 1:32:23 over the challenging 5K - 33K - 5K route is a full minute faster than Apple's pro record--Brianna Boehmer's 1:33:23, set in 2004--and almost three minutes faster than that of the 2nd fastest amateur clocking--Marnie Walth's 1:35:11, posted in 2008....

Annual Jump-Start...

Race Report - Over the past 4 years I have participated in the Land Between the Lakes Triathlon in Albert Lea. My sister-in-law, Lisa grew up in Albert Lea and her parents still reside there so it is a fun way for family and friends to get together for the weekend. At first, I wasn't too sure about racing so early given the cold water temps, but over the years I have found it beneficial for me to get an early jump-start to the season.

I'm not sure there could be a worse season debut race. Been training hard, prepping for 3 early sprints, Chisago half, and IM Wisconsin, feeling great, and finally ready to let the dog off the chain at Albert Lea after 5 months of training in the gym and home pain cave...

Recap:

Swim: I consider myself a strong swimmer, first pack at worst, and positioned myself as such. It was 10seconds before the gun when I realized I hadn't put Body Glide on my already-chafed neck. Whoops. Figured there'd be a little jostling like usual....
