This feature is called "GETTING TO KNOW YOUR PEERS," wherein we raid Facebook pages to find fun and odd stuff about random Minnesota triathletes. Yes, we do make some stuff up.
* NORDIC STOCKER is very pretty, has thick hair and enjoys listening to Ray LaMontagne & the Pariah Dogs. She agrees that "God Willing & the Creek Don't Rise" is one of the 2-3 greatest albums of 2011. As an aficionado of thick hair, she really likes Ray Montagne's "Mountain Man" look....

Ed. The day after Minnesota Grand Master of the Year nominee Ben Ewers finished 2nd in the 65-69M category at the Hawaiian Ironman World Championships, he wrote this note to his son and daughter.

Only slept 4 hrs last night, mind and body still working. I survived this race better than any others, which I attribute to sound training (especially the heat training) and a good plan that recognized my shortcomings. My longest run going into the race was 11 miles, as my Achilles was a limiting factor. Today it feels no worse...

Minnesota Multisport Awards: The MMA Selection Committee announces its initial four official nominees for Female Performance of the Year:
* CLAIRE BOOTSMA's course record at Maple Grove Olympic. (Claire beat fellow TOY nominees Cathy Yndestad and Becky Youngberg in this race. Adding significance was the fact that it was the first time since August of 2006 that a Minnesota woman had beaten CY, a four-time TOY who was honored as Minnesota's Athlete of the Decade last November, in a triathlon.)
* CLAIRE BOOTSMA's course record at Peregrine Charities Olympic. (Frigid conditions--40-45 degrees--resulted in protracted transitions, yet Claire posted a 2:10:02, a 1:54 improvement on the...

Minnesota Multisport Awards - Determining the Performance of the Year nominees was, according to Youtube's =3 guy, Ray William Johnson, who is a MEGA-HOOT!, a biatch.
There were soooooooo many great performances to choose from this year.
