I had the opportunity to read the book "You Are an Ironman", by Jacques Steinberg, while still on a high after recently completing my first Ironman 70.3 triathlon. The novel interested me because my normal reaction when I am asked if I would consider doing an Ironman is "Are you crazy?!", knowing how much time it takes an average person, like me, to train for a half distance race and watching so many friends who have trained for and completed full Ironman races.
The book chronicles six people who, for various reasons, decide to sign up for the 2009 Ironman Arizona, which a few of my friends also did. As we travel through the various minds and thought processes rationalizing each individual's decision to make the ultimate...

Minnesota Multisport Awards - The Minnesota Grand Master of the Year category (60+ men; 55+ women) was very contentious this year. Not until the final voter submitted his/her recommended candidates was the Committee able to determine the official nominees....

After our profound performance of predictive prowess at the World Championship70.3 in Vegas last month, Ironman.com begged Jerry "The Scot" MacNeil and me to stage an encore for the Ford Ironman World Championship. They also begged us not to actually predict anything this time but just to preview the field. Must've been because of how we completely threw the sports book at Caesar's into a state of utter disarray.

Toyota US Open - Minnesotans have rocked on the national scene this season, arguably more than ever before. It started with Patrick Parish's 3rd at the Clermont Draft Legal Challenge in Florida. Then sophomore sensation Dan Hedgecock placed 4th at St. Anthony's (FL), after which he CRed at Life Time-Minneapolis Elite, and did so by the largest margin in the 10-year history of the event.
