For my first blog post, I thought I’d tell you a little about me….but where to start? Here it goes. I was born and raised in Duluth, Minnesota, went to college here and married my husband here. We are raising our three kids here too. I work part time as a doctor of physical therapy.
Since this is mostly about my training and triathlon life I’ll give you some background on my athletic life–It’s eclectic. I competed in figure skating for a couple years. When that got too expensive, I started and later competed in dance. When that got to be too much I tried volleyball and softball for a couple years. I joined the swim team in 7th grade. I swam competitively through high school and didn’t swim again until two years ago. I also ran track in junior high. One of my biggest regrets was not running track in high school. I didn’t think I could handle both the swim team and track at the same time. I also played hockey in junior high and high school. My best friend played and wanted me to play. I could skate so why not?! I enjoyed hockey, but my heart was in swimming....

YOUNG LIFE TRIATHLON RACE REPORT - SATURDAY MARKED THE 228TH DAY OF 2020. A YEAR WE CAN ALL AGREE HAS SUCKED MORE THAN THE WORLDS MOST POWERFUL VACUUM! MY TRIATHLON SEASON LASTED A BLISSFUL 1:10:33 AT THE YOUNGLIFE TRIATHLON IN DETROIT LAKES. MY SUMMER IS USUALLY FILLED WITH OVER A DOZEN TRIATHLONS AND NUMEROUS MARATHONS AND IRONMAN RACES. IRONICALLY, SATURDAYS RACE WAS ALSO MY 228TH ACTIVITY ACCORDING TO MY GARMIN. THOSE 228 ACTIVITIES EQUAL OUT TO BE OVER 2,070 MILES. I AM NO TRAINING EXPERT BUT THAT SEEMS TO BE AN EXTREME AMOUNT OF OVERTRAINING FOR A SPRINT TRIATHLON! ...

YOUNG LIFE TRIATHLONN RACE REPORT - Carin and I spent a few days in Detroit Lakes this past weekend, 8/14-8/16.
Always love going to this area. I did the Younglife Triathlon for the third time. I've done the Olympic distance twice before. This year they had just one distance, a Sprint, which was a 500m swim (my Garmin measured about 900 yds), 20k bike, 5k run.
The organizers never fail to put on a great race! The water is so clear in Big/Little Detroit Lake, the bike route circles the lakes, and the run is a nice little out-n-back. The volunteers are the best at the YL Tri too. They are fully engaged in making sure you are on course and I don't think anyone gets by them without being cheered on....

GREEN LAKE TRIATHLON RACE REPORT - I raced Green Lake Triathlon Olympic for the first time in 2017. Despite storms and downpour on the bike i really enjoyed the course and small town feel.
This year I signed up at the last minute as I had been training for IM Madison up until a few weeks ago so body was in good shape to race. I work in the medical field so was concerned about precautions being taken. Careful research about the race precautions and realized this will work. Checked with my coach for advice on how to race all i got was "No watch" "Let it rip". As i am a data freak i was a bit apprehensive i did wear watch but it was only on time and put black tape over bike computer so all i could see was distance/time. I was good and only looked at it once or twice and went by feel.
I live about 3 hours away so packed up gear on Saturday and hit the road for Spicer to spend the night at the INN across the street from transition. Could not ask for a better set up. ...

GRANITEMAN CLEARWATER COVERAGE - Women's Race - Where to begin? We could talk about the emergence of the top two female finishers, SHYANNE MCGREGOR and ANNA RAINER? Or we could start by talking about the three age group records that were set?
Or the return of GRETA DANIELSON-KOPPY?...
